The change comes after the FCC gave carriers greater power to “aggressively block” unwanted robocalls.
Verizon said on Tuesday it will begin to automatically enroll eligible Android phones in its free Call Filter service. In June the FCC voted to grant greater power to wireless carriers to “aggressively block” unwanted robocalls.
The free version of the Call Filter service will block robocalls and send them to voicemail putting a warning label on the “spam calls”. Verizon will start this rollout with postpaid eligible devices.
The number of unwanted robocalls as risen 46% from 2017 to 2018. Personally this has made my phone a basically useless device.
